Pau Gasol is a retired professional basketball player from Spain. Pau Gasol announced his retirement from professional basketball on October 5, 2021.

Pau Gasol was selected third overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 2001 NBA draught, but his rights were traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.

He holds the franchise record for free throw attempts made. Pau Gasol spent more than six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies before moving on to play for the Los Angeles Lakers (2008-2014), Chicago Bulls (2014-2016), San Antonio Spurs (2016-2019), and Milwaukee Bucks (2019).

Pau Gasol was a six-time NBA All-Star and four-time All-NBA team selection, twice on the second and once on the third teams.

He was the first non-American to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2002. He is considered to be one of the greatest power forwards of all time, as well as one of the greatest European players of all time.

Gasol was named MVP of the 2006 FIBA World Cup, as well as the 2009 and 2015 FIBA EuroBasket. Pau Gasol and Kreimir osi both have two EuroBasket MVP awards. Gasol is also the all-time leading scorer in EuroBasket.
