Lynyrd Skynyrd was an American rock band that was very famous in the 1970s. They rose to fame on the strength of its triple-guitar attack and gritty working-class attitude. One of the band’s biggest hits was the song, Sweet Home Alabama which was released in 1974. It landed in the top 100 charts in three different countries.

What is wrong with Lynyrd Skynyrd?
All founding members of Lynyrd Skynyrd have died. The last surviving founding member, Gary Rossington, was reported dead on March 5, 2023.

When did Lynyrd Skynyrd disband?
Lynyrd Skynyrd did not recover properly after three of its members died in a plane crash. They were very active for 10 years; from 1977 to 1987. They only came together occasionally to perform. One of those occasions was when they performed an instrumental version of “Free Bird” at Charlie Daniels’ Volunteer Jam V in January 1979.
