Is Gary Rossington still playing with Lynyrd Skynyrd?

Gary Rossington was a founding member and the last remaining original member of the southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd who still played with Lynyrd Skynyrd until his death in March 2023.

Gary Rossington died on 5 March 2023. His death was announced by the band announced on their official Facebook page Sunday evening.

Although no cause of death was given, Gary Rossington had been dealing with health issues for several decades, particularly since the mid-2010s, when heart problems occasionally sidelined Rossington and the band.

With the deaths of keyboardist Billy Powell (2009) and Larry Junstrom (2019), he was the last surviving original member of the band.

Lynyrd Skynyrd went through many changes over the years, including the tragic loss of three of its members in a plane crash in 1977.

Gary Rossington himself has had to overcome many health challenges, including a heart attack in 2015, which resulted in him having triple bypass surgery.

However, he continued to tour and perform with the band, showing his dedication to the music and the fans.
