David founded the band El Rayo-X and collaborated with many artists such as Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon, Curtis Mayfield, and Dolly Parton.

David Lindley played a variety of string instruments, including violin, acoustic and electric guitar, upright and electric bass, banjo, lap steel guitar, mandolin, hardingfele, bouzouki, and zither.

Some of his biggest songs include Mercury Blues, She Took Off My Romeros, and Ain’t No Way.

David Lindley also wrote and scored film music and was a founding member of the band Kaleidoscope. He first appeared on the band’s album Side Trips in 1967, the same year he appeared on Leonard Cohen’s Songs.
