Pelayo Novo García, known simply as Pelayo, was born in Oviedo, Spain. Prior to his death, he lived in his hometown Oviedo.

Pelayo Novo was a Spanish professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Pelayo Novo began playing with Real Oviedo where he spent his first three full seasons as a senior in the Segunda División B.

Pelayo Novo made his official debut with Elche CF of Segunda División on 19 August 2012 as a substitute for Carles Gil in the final minutes of the 4–2 home win against SD Ponferradina.
On 6 October 2012, Pelayo Novo scored his first goal in the league, contributing to a 2–1 away victory over CD Mirandés. On 28 August 2014, Pelayo Novo signed a two-year deal with Albacete Balompié.
On 31 March 2018, Pelayo Novo had permanent paralysis. Pelayo Novo died on 28 February 2023 at the age of 32, after he was hit by a train in his native town Oviedo.
