Born on November 21,1976, in Blackpool, England, Whiston began dancing professionally at age 18 years, and went on to appear in the Hot Ice Show at the Arena.

Whiston won the first season of Dancing on Ice with his partner, actress Gaynor Faye.

During its fifth season, he partnered with former Emmerdale actress Hayley Tamaddon and later, Olympic gymnast, Beth Tweddle.

In 2019, Whiston became Associate Creative Director of Dancing on Ice and began training all celebrity contestants.
