Why is Honda Classic suspended?

The 2023 Honda Classic has been suspended due to weather issues relating to darkness. The official Twitter page of the PGA Tour announced.

“The first round of The Honda Classic was suspended due to darkness at 6:18 p.m. ET and will resume Friday at 7:45 a.m. The second round will begin as scheduled at 6:50 a.m. ET,” PGA Tour Communications posted on Twitter.

Many netizens retorted that it has become a norm for the tour to always shift the blame to the weather. In 2015, it was noted that the Classic was also delayed for a few days due to weather.

“This not finishing rounds before sunset is getting old. Come on,” a tweep posted.

“All the guys still in the course are the first to go off typically in the 2nd round. So that doesn’t make much sense,” another tweep replied to the main post.

In 2015 also, the Honda Classic was suspended due to stormy conditions in Florida.

“Play at the Honda Classic has been suspended due to torrential weather in South Florida. None of the top 20 had begun their third rounds at Palm Beach Gardens when lightning struck, bringing an end to proceedings,” reports said.
