The three traditional pillars of Lent are prayer, fasting and almsgiving. During lent, it is not acceptable to eat lamb, chicken, beef, pork, ham, deer and most other meats.

However, pregnant women, the ill, the elderly and the very young are exempt from Lent rules of fasting. Lent ends when the evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday begins. Lent ends three days before Easter Sunday on Thursday, April 6, 2023.
