There is no known way to prevent amyloidosis, as the disease is often related to genetic mutations or other underlying health conditions. Reducing salt intake can, however, slow disease progression if the heart or kidneys are affected.

Treatment for amyloidosis depends on the type and severity of the disease. Some medications may be included to reduce the production of abnormal proteins, chemotherapy, organ or stem cell transplant, and supportive care to manage symptoms and complications.
Some of the medications that are used to treat amyloidosis are Chemotherapy for AL amyloidosis, Immunomodulatory drugs (IMiDs) like Thalidomide, lenalidomide, and pomalidomide; Corticosteroids like Prednisone and Tafamidis for the treatment of hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis.
Amyloidosis is a rare disease caused by the abnormal accumulation of amyloid proteins in various tissues and organs throughout the body. This amyloid buildup can make the organs not work properly.
