AL amyloidosis is also called primary amyloidosis and usually affects the heart, kidneys, liver and nerves. AL amyloidosis is caused by the abnormal production of immunoglobulin light chains by plasma cells in the bone marrow.

The level of pain experienced in amyloidosis is highly variable and some people with amyloidosis may not experience any pain. If amyloidosis affects the nerves, it can cause peripheral neuropathy, which can result in burning sensations in the hands and feet.
If amyloidosis affects the heart, it leads to chest pain. Amyloidosis is a rare disease caused by the abnormal accumulation of amyloid proteins in various tissues and organs throughout the body. This amyloid buildup can make the organs not work properly.
In amyloidosis, abnormal proteins are produced and deposited in tissues and organs, causing damage to their structure and function.
