Australian professional cricketer, Peter Handscomb is not playing, not because he has retired. The captain sustained a soft-tissue damage in his right hip on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, when he was attempting to play a pull shot.

“He continued batting but collapsed in pain three balls later after hitting another pull shot for six,” reports said.
He has not hinted on any plans of retiring soon or resigning his role as a captain of Victoria Cricket team.

“He deserves his place back in the squad. His domestic form has been strong recently and Pete has proven he can perform at Test level. His experience against spin on the subcontinent is valuable and he is also an exceptionally good close-to-wicket catcher,” National selector, George Bailey said.
