Peter Scudamore Parents: Meet Michael Scudamore, Mary Scudamore
Michael Scudamore, a jockey, and his wife Mary welcomed Scudamore into the world in June 1958. When his kid was still a baby, Michael Scudamore won the 1959 Grand National aboard Oxo. Scudamore only recalls one incident from his father’s career—the fall that put an end to it. But he has acknowledged the roughness of his jockey father and his desire to measure up to him.
81-year-old racing dynasty patriarch Michael Scudamore rode in the Grand National for a record 16 times straight, most notably winning the race in 1959 while riding Oxo for trainer Willie Stephenson.
Scudamore was one of the select few riders to have ridden a winner over jumps for the Queen Mother and went on to win the 1957 Gold Cup aboard Linwell.
