In December 2022, Nike announced the termination of professional basketball player, Kyrie Irving’s officail contract with them after posting a link to a documentary which had anti-Semitic material. The video was somehow sharing that it was hostile to Jewish people. He was heavily backlashed on social media and face heavy punishments from the NBA and his sponsors.

A Nike spokesperson told the media that the athlete’s contract had been terminated by the company.

“Kyrie is no longer a Nike athlete,” they said.
The athlete’s agent also shared that the separation was based on a mutual agreement.
“We have mutually decided to part ways and wish Nike the best in their future endeavors,” Shetellia Riley Irving said.
“Kyrie stepped on the line. It’s kind of that simple. He made some statements that we just can’t abide by, and that’s why we ended the relationship, I was fine with that,” Nike co-founder, Phil Knight said.
