Jonathan Gannon has previously served as an assistant coach for the Indianapolis Colts, Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, and Philadelphia Eagles.

Jonathan Gannon played at the University of Louisville, however, he suffered a career-ending injury. Jonathan Gannon remained with the University of Louisville program as a volunteer assistant during the 2003–2005 seasons.

In 2007, Jonathan Gannon was hired by the Atlanta Falcons as a defensive quality control coach. He was later hired by the St. Louis Rams as a college scout in 2009.

Jonathan Gannon served as the defensive backs and cornerbacks coach of the Indianapolis Colts under head coach Frank until 2020. He was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as the Defensive Coordinator.
