Who Is Dennis Franz?
Dennis Franz is a retired actor famous for his role as NYPD Detective Andy Sipowicz in the popular TV series NYPD Blue.
Born on October 28, 1944, in Illinois, Franz, Franz graduated from Wilbur Wright College and Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he bagged a degree in speech and theater.

Upon graduation, Franz was recruited into the United States Army, where he served for “eleven months with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam.”
As an actor, Franz played two different roles in the 80s NBC series Hill Street Blues and its spinoff, Beverly Hills Buntz.
Franz has won several awards in his career including a Golden Globe Award, three Screen Actors Guild Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards.
Franz retired from acting in 2005.
He spends most of his time with his wife in their Idaho home.
