British journalist, Jonathan Ross was not really sacked by the BBC, however, he opted out of his contract after stating that he would not be negotiating further in 2010. However, it came after he was suspended by BBC boss for making prank calls with comedian Russell Brand to actor Andrew Sachs.

He was one of BBC’s highest-paid stars by then, raking in an annual salary of 6 million GBP.

“Although I have had a wonderful time working for the BBC, and I’m very proud of the shows I have made while there, over the last two weeks, I have decided not to renegotiate when my current contract comes to an end. I would like to make it perfectly clear that no negotiations ever took place and that my decision is not financially motivated,” he said.
He was then the host of a Friday night show on BBC1, a film review program, and other shows, therefore, he added that he’d continue to host the show until his contract officially ended.
