Russian-born American pianist, Vladimir Horowitz reportedly did not have a perfect pitch. Many famous composers do not have a perfect pitch. Horowitz officially stopped performing in 1987 after his final tour took place during the Spring season.

It was recorded that his last performance, which was a recital took place at the Musikhale Hamburg in Germany took place on June 21, 1987. Just like many other pianists, he played with flat fingers because the technique allows different tonal gradations which are difficult to achieve with round fingers.
