Angela Basset has been married to Courtney Bernard Vance since 1999. They first met in 1980. Together, they have twins, a son and a daughter born on January 27, 2006.

The two have authored a book, Friends: A Love Story with Hilary Beard. They have also participated in the annual Christmas celebrations, Candlelight Processional, at Epot. The family lives in Los Angeles.

Vanve is also an American actor. Known for his commanding presence, Vance started his career on stage before transitioning his career into film and television. He received accolades including Tony Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards as well as nominations for a Grammy Award, Gold Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award.
Vance is on the Board of Directors for The Actors Centre in New York City and is an active supporter of the Boy & Girls Clubs of America.
