Penny Marshall was married to Rob Reiner. He is an actor and filmmaker. He came to national prominence with the role of Michael Stivic on the CBS sitcom, All in the Family, a performance that earned two Primetime Emmy Awards.

As a director, Reiner was recognised by the Directors Guild of America Awards with nominations for the coming-of-age drama, Stand by Me, the romantic comedy, When Harry Met Sally and the military courtroom drama, A Few Good Men.

Reiner is a co-founder of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which initiated the court challenge against California Proposition 8 which banned same-sex marriage in the state.
He is also a member of the Social Responsibility Task Force, an organisation advocating moderation where social issues (such as violence and tobacco use) and the entertainment industry meet.
