On the contrary, Burrell received rejection and hatred from Diana’s mother, Frances Shand Kydd, who thought he was a gold digger.

Upon serving the Royal house for 21 years, Burrell moved on with his life and wrote a number of bestselling books such as Entertaining with Style, In the Royal Manner: Butler to Diana, A Royal Duty, and The Way We Were: Remembering Diana.

In 2004, he appeared on the season 4 of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and on Countdown in Dictionary Corner.

Burrell has so far been on many other TV shows including Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes, Through the Keyhole, Therapy, and the TV documentary, Diana: The Royal Truth.

Burrell has received a number of British Royal Awards such as the Royal Victorian Medal, the Royal Household Long and Faithful Service Medal by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
