What is the story behind The Last of Us?

“The Last of Us” takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States ravaged by a deadly mutated fungus in the genus Cordyceps and follows the journey of Joel, a smuggler and Ellie, a young girl who is immune to the infection as they travel across the United States.

The “The Last of Us” game also involves Abby, a soldier in Seattle who becomes involved in a conflict between her militia and a religious cult.

The story follows the characters as they face several dangers, especially deadly survivors and infected individuals.

In the storyline of “The Last of Us”, Joel lost his daughter during the outbreak and is also tasked with escorting Ellie across the United States to deliver her to the Fireflies, a rebel group fighting against a totalitarian regime.

As of January 2023, the franchise has sold over 37 million games worldwide and has received a television adaptation by HBO in 2023.
