According to his obituary, his survivors include his sister Lynette Henley, brother Michael Henley, nieces Robyn Bacon and Valencia Kamara, nephew Robert Henley, a grand-niece, two grand-nephews and cousins Pierre Gatling and Patricia Cole.

Gregory Allen Howard died in Miami, Florida on January 27, 2023, at the age of 70 after a brief illness, according to his publicist.

Gregory Allen Howard is best known for penning the screenplay for the Disney film Remember the Titans (2000), about an undefeated high school football team credited with bridging the racial divide in Alexandria, Virginia, in 1971.

In 2019, Howard brought to life a story he was deeply invested in, Kasi Lemmons’ Harriet, for which he wrote the screenplay and produced. The movie was nominated for two Academy Awards.

Howard was working on a number of projects, including The Magician, a biopic about quarterback Marlin “The Magician” Briscoe before his death.
