Japanese professional golfer, Hideki Matsuyama withdrew from The Players Championship due to a lingering back injury. It happened in March 2022. Matsuyama emerged victorious at the Zozo Championship in October 2021 by winning the Sony Open in January.

“The Japanese player had limited his practice at TPC Sawgrass ahead of the PGA Tour’s flagship event, although had been hopeful to tee it up alongside Presidents Cup teammates Cameron Smith and Joaquin Niemann,” reports said.

He also withdrew from the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs due to a neck injury.
