What happened to the officers who abused Rodney King?
Rodney King was beaten by LAPD officers led by their leader, Sergeant Stacey Koon, and Lawrence Powell who abused him the most. He was shot twice with an electric stun gun also known as a Taser, carrying a charge of 50,000 volts. He was also beaten with a baton as many as 56 times. The officers later lied that King sustained “minor injuries.” They were later charged and dismissed, however, Powell and Koon were sentenced to two and a half years in prison for their crime. King was released without charges.
