What started the LA riots? How long did the Rodney King riots last?

The people of Los Angeles took to the streets on April 29, 1992, after a jury had acquitted four officers of the Los Angeles Police Department of using excessive force and beating up victim Rodney King for an arrest. Luckily, a large portion of the incident was caught on camera by a civilian named George Holliday whose video was eventually sold to CNN and broadcast to people in America.

King was beaten heavily by police officers of the LAPD after a chase on the streets of Los Angeles. He reportedly refused to stop and was driving at top speed. He ended up with a fractured leg, multiple facial fractures, and numerous bruises.

How long did the Rodney King riots last?

The Rodney King riots lasted for six days, causing lots of damage and loss of lives as well. The riots left 63 people dead and 2,383 people injured. It only ended after reinforcement came from the California Army National Guard, the Army, and the Marine Corps.
