Trixie Mattel chose the name Trixie as her official first name because when she was younger, she had a rough relationship with her stepfather.

According to her, whenever she was acting too feminine, her stepfather would call her Trixie as though it was a slur.
Trixie Mattel is part Ojibwe and comes from a Native American family in Crivitz, Wisconsin. Trixie Mattel freelanced at Sephora and also worked at Ulta and MAC.
