Who Are Torvill And Dean?

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are English ice dancers who have won the British, European, Olympic, and World championships.

Torvill and Dean had been paired by Nottingham coach Janet Sawbridge sometime in 1975, a time when Torvill was a British Junior Pairs champion.

The duo who hail from England, hit the dance floor and won their first trophy in 1976.

During the Sarajevo 1984 Winter Olympics, they were named the highest-scoring figure skaters of all time after dancing to Maurice Ravel’s Boléro, with over 24 million viewers watchng.

In 1988, Torvill and Dean were inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.

In 2012, Torvill and Dean became ambassadors for the European Figure Skating Championships in Sheffield, England.

The dance partners have appeared on many episodes of the ITV Show Dancing On Ice.

In 2018, a biopic docudrama titled Torvill & Dean was released, with actor Will Tudor appearing as Christopher Dean, and actress Poppy Lee Friar playing the role of Jayne Torvill.
