Stephen Stills Parents: Meet William Stills, Taletha Stills

Stephen Stills is a musician and songwriter who rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s as a member of the band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY).

Stephen Stills was born in Dallas. He is the son of William Arthur Stills and Talitha Quintilla Collard.

As a child of a military family, he moved around and developed an interest in blues and folk music

He was also influenced by Latin music after growing up in Gainesville and Tampa, Florida, as well as Covington, Louisiana, Costa Rica, the Panama Canal Zone, and El Salvador.

Stephen Stills attended Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Saint Leo College Preparatory School in Saint Leo, Florida, before graduating from Lincoln High School in Costa Rica.

Stephen began his professional career with Buffalo Springfield, where he wrote “For What It’s Worth,” which became one of the 1960s’ most recognisable songs.

He also wrote the songs “Sit Down, I Think I Love You,” “Bluebird,” and “Rock & Roll Woman” for the band. He was ranked number 28 in Rolling Stone’s 2003 list of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” and number 47 in the 2011 list
