Australian former cricketer, Michael Clarke was considered one of the best, if not the best Test batsman in the world when he was at his peak. His skill was amazing and his hard work in overcoming injuries like a chronic back injury caused a slowdown in his career, however, he performed extremely well.

Was Clarke a good captain?
Michael Clarke’s captainship has been admired by current players, former players, and even the legendary skipper, Ian Chappell who considered him the greatest Test Captain of the 21st century. Chappell skipped players like Steve Waugh, Ricky Ponting, Steve Smith, and Tim Paine to name Clarke as the greatest. Chappell also believes that Clarke is “technically the best captain, by quite a margin.”

“I wouldn’t find much to criticize about him. He had by far the most difficult job of those captains we’re comparing him to and I think he’s handling it pretty well. Captaincy is a very subjective thing. Everyone’s got their own idea of how you’re supposed to captain a side. I think his captaincy overall has been very good,” Chappell said.
