Matt Weiss Computer Crime Michigan: Matt Weiss On Leave Amid Investigation Into Computer Crimes

Michigan Wolverines football coach Matt Weiss is on currently leave due to an investigation the University of Michigan Police Department is conducting on a computer crime.

A statement from Crystal James, the Deputy Police Chief with UMPD revealed that there had been “computer access crimes at Schembechler Hall between Dec. 21- Dec. 23, 2022.”

The University emails accounts seemed to have been hacked, although no suspect has been named so far in the fraudulent activity.

Who Is Matt Weiss?

Matt Weiss is the current quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator for the Michigan Wolverines.

Born on March 1, 1983, in Cheshire, Connecticut, Weiss had his college career at Vanderbilt before he began coaching in the National Football League (NFL).

As a beginner in 2003, Weiss coached Smyrna High School, where he introduced a tutoring program that helped student-athletes become eligibile for the NCAA.

He later coached Stanford, and then went on to coach the Baltimore Ravens for eleven years, before moving to Michigan in 2022, as a quarterback coach.

When he joined the Michigan Wolverines, he helped them win the second seed in college football with a 12-2 record.

He also led the team to win their first Big-Ten championship, a feat they last achieved in 2003.

In December, 2022, Weiss went on a compulsory leave, following the university police’s probe into computer access crimes.

Weiss is happily married to his wife, Melissa, and together they have three children.
