Yevhen Yenin was killed in a helicopter crash near a nursery in Kyiv’s eastern suburbs on 18 January 2023.
When the helicopter crashed in Brovary, nine people were killed, and another nine died on the ground, including three children.
There is no evidence that the crash was anything other than an accident, though witnesses said the disaster was caused by Russia’s war.
“It was very foggy and there was no electricity, and when there’s no electricity there are no lights on the buildings,” resident Volodymyr told the BBC.

Yevhen Yenin was a key member of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s cabinet. He was instrumental in keeping the public informed of casualties caused by Russian missile strikes since Ukraine was invaded in February 2022.
Mr Yenin previously worked as an ambassador for Ukraine’s government abroad.
Following the crash, a fire broke out near the kindergarten, and the children and staff were evacuated. The wreckage of the helicopter could be seen outside a burning building.
