What was Gina Lollobrigida famous for?

Gina Lollobrigida was a retired Italian actress, photojournalist, and sculptor best known for her roles in 1950s and 1960s films.

Lollobrigida, who was born in 1927, began her acting career in the 1940s, but it wasn’t until the 1950s that she achieved international acclaim for her roles in films such as “Bread, Love, and Dreams.”

Lollobrigida made a name for herself as a photojournalist, covering various events and conflicts around the world in addition to her acting career. She even won a World Press Photo award for her Vietnam War coverage.

Gina Lollobrigida also had a successful sculpting career, creating several pieces that have been displayed in galleries all over the world.

Despite her retirement from acting, Lollobrigida remains a popular and iconic figure in the entertainment industry.

Lollobrigida was honoured with the NIAF Lifetime Achievement Award at the Foundation’s Anniversary Gala in 2008.

She sold her jewellery collection in 2013 and donated nearly $5 million of the proceeds to stem-cell therapy research. At the 18th Golden Globe Awards, she received the Henrietta Award.

Gina Lollobrigida died at a clinic in Rome on 16 January 2023, at the age of 95 according to her agent.
