Freddy Krueger’s character was created by Wes Craven. The character first appeared in Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street where it was portrayed as the evil spirit of a child killer who had been burned to death by his victims’ parents.
In its storyline, Freddy Krueger murders his victims in their dreams causing their deaths in the real world as well. However, Freddy is pulled back into the real world with normal human vulnerabilities and can be destroyed.
Freddy Krueger is often recognized by his burned and disfigured face dirty. He wears a red-and-green-striped sweater and brown fedora and has a trademark metal-clawed, brown leather, right-hand glove.
