The late Dr. Samuel Johnson was an English Writer who contributed as a poet, playwright, essayist, moralist, critic, biographer, editor, and lexicographer.

Dr. Samuel Johnson was born on September 18, 1709, in Lichfield, United Kingdom, and died on December 13, 1784, in London, United Kingdom.
The late Samuel Johnson died in his house at Bolt Court which lay to the north of Fleet St. He had a stroke and died from a Mild attack of pneumonia that resulted from his diagnosis.

He was buried at foot of Shakespeare’s monument ‘Poet’s Corner’, Westminster Abbey, London, England. His grave was covered, at his request, with black marble to protect his body from injury.
His partner at the time of death was Hill Boothby. However, he previously married Elizabeth Johnson from 1735 to 1752. His children are Joseph Porter, Jervis Henry Porter, and Lucy Porter.
In 2009, Samuel Johnson was part of the ten people who were selected by the Royal Mail for their “Eminent Britons” commemorative postage stamp issue.
On 18 September 2017, Google commemorated Johnson’s 308th birthday with a Google Doodle. The date of his demise is celebrated in the Church of England’s Calendar of Saints. There is a memorial to him at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
