Evel Knievel was born as the first of two children to Robert E. and Ann Marie Keough Knievel in Butte, Montana.
Evel Knievel, after completing his sophomore year in Butte High School, left education and got a job as a diamond drill operator with the Anaconda Mining Company.
Growing up in Butte, Montana, Knievel had a tumultuous youth and was often arrested for stealing hubcaps and motorcycles. However, this led to a passion for motorcycle riding and he began performing stunts in his early 20s.
Evel Knievel had a toy line and a movie made about him, “Viva Knievel!” Evel Knievel was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999.
