However, this led to a passion for motorcycle riding and he began performing stunts in his early 20s.

Evel Knievel then enlisted in the United States Army in the late 1950s. Over the course of his career, Evel Knievel attempted more than 75 ramp-to-ramp motorcycle jumps and suffered numerous injuries, including broken bones.
