Canadian actors, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams did not get along during the early stages of acting together. Even though they played romantic interests on-screen, they did not get along so well while filming The Notebook. They even went as far as admitting that they hated each other terribly.

Therefore, it came as a surprise to fans when it was revealed that they dated for two years after the end of filing for The Notebook. They announced that they had started dating in 2005.

A few years after the release of the movie, Gosling shared;

“We inspired the worst in each other. It was a strange experience, making a love story and not getting along with your co-star in any way.”

The film’s director, Nick Cassavetes once shared that the actors’ fight got so intense at some point that, Gosling asked that they take Rachel Adams off the set.

“They were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. And Ryan came to me, and there are 150 people standing in this big scene and he says, ‘Nick come here.’ And he’s doing a scene with Rachel and he says, ‘Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off-camera with me?’ I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this,” Cassavetes said.
