Charles White was a professional American football player. He played as a running back in the National Football League for nine seasons in the 1980s.

White played college football for the University of Southern California. He owns the USC all-time career rushing record with 6,245 yards. White was a two-time unanimous All-American and set 22 NCAA, Pac-10, USC and Rose Bowl records during his college career.

He helped the Trojans win the 1978 National Championship and was awarded the Walter Camp Award, Maxwell Award and Heisman Trophy in 1979. He was also a hurdler on the USC track team that year.

White was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the 1st round, 27th overall pick in the 1980 NFL Draft.

He subsequently played professionally for the Rams and Browns and had 780 carries for 3,075 yards, 114 catches for 860 yards and scored 24 touchdowns. He was selected to play in 1 Pro Bowl.

After his NFL retirement, White served as assistant to the Southern California director of athletics from 1990 to 1992. In 1993, he joined the Southern California football staff as a running backs coach. He then worked as a computer consultant.

Charles White died of liver cancer on January 11, 2023, at age 64 in Newport Beach, California.
