Who Is Kyle Shimwell, Bakewell Town FC Footballer Who Died After Car Crash?

Kyle Shimwell was a young player for the Derbyshire football club. The footballer was killed after a car he travelled in left the road and crashed into a shop.

Emergency services got to the scene at about 00:30 GMT and took him to the hospital. He died two days later.

Shimwell had stepped up into the first team on many occasions and had started with the under-sixes. He came under public attention when news of his death went viral on social media.

Following the announcement by the club of Kyle’s passing, an outpouring of support has been seen on social media. One person wrote, “Such sad news. Kyle was a lovely young man. Sending all our love and thoughts to the family”.

Other clubs have also paid tribute to the young footballer.
