James Norton is an English film, television, and stage actor best known for his excellent performance in the TV shows Happy Valley, Grantchester, War & Peace and McMafia.

While attending Cambridge, James Norton was a member of The Marlowe Society theatre club and played Posthumus in a production of Cymbeline directed by Trevor Nunn. He then attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London for three years but left in 2010 before graduating to take an acting assignment.

James Norton earned a nomination for the British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2015 for his performance as ex-convict Tommy Lee Royce in Happy Valley.

James Norton appeared in Amy Herzog’s Belleville at the Donmar Warehouse Theatre between December 2017 and February 2018. In 2015, he was appointed as a trustee of the Royal Theatrical Support Trust.
