Who took down El Chapo?

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the notorious Mexican drug lord was finally taken down in January 2016, when Mexican authorities, working in conjunction with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), arrested him in the city of Los Mochis, located in the state of Sinaloa.

The arrest was the result of a long and intense manhunt that involved multiple agencies and involved several close calls and narrow escapes for El Chapo.

One of the key moments in the search for El Chapo came in February 2014, when he was almost captured in the town of Cosala, in the state of Sinaloa. However, he managed to evade capture by escaping through a series of tunnels that he had built under his safe house.

In the years that followed, authorities continued to hunt for El Chapo, and they finally caught a break in October 2015, when they were able to locate one of his safe houses in the city of Los Mochis.

A team of Mexican marines was sent to the safe house, and they engaged in a fierce gun battle with El Chapo’s bodyguards.

El Chapo managed to escape through a tunnel once again, but he was eventually caught by the marines as he tried to flee the city by car.

He was taken into custody and extradited to the United States in January 2017, where he was put on trial and found guilty of numerous drug trafficking and conspiracy charges.
