Joaquin “ElChapo” Guzman, the former leader of the Sinaloa cartel, is currently serving a life sentence in a maximum-security prison in the United States.

After his final capture in 2016, ElChapo was extradited to the United States to stand trial. He was charged with a variety of crimes, including drug trafficking, money laundering, and murder.
ElChapo’s trial took place in Brooklyn, New York, in 2019. He was found guilty on all counts and was subsequently sentenced to life in prison, plus 30 years.

Since his sentencing, El Chapo has been incarcerated in ADX Florence, Colorado, United States, Ahigh-security facility in the United States.
It is worth noting that ElChapo has a history of escaping from custody. During his time as a fugitive, he was able to evade authorities for over a decade before being captured again.
However, it is unlikely that he will be able to escape from the maximum-security prison where he is currently being held.
