Gianluca Vialli Cause Of Death

Chelsea and Italy legend Gianluca Vialli has died after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Vialli was born on 9 July 1964 and died on 6 January 2023. He was 58 years.

Vialli previously overcame the disease after first being diagnosed in 2017.

However, in 2021, he was diagnosed with the disease again.

After the cancer returned, Vialli who was working with the Italian national team quit his role to enable him focus on his health.

However, in December last year, reports indicated that his condition was getting worse.

Vialli started his club career at Cremonese in 1980 in his native Italy where he made 105 league appearances scoring 23 goals.

He then went on to play for Sampdoria, Juventus and Chelsea FC.

During his time in Italy, he won the Italian Cup, the Serie A, Italian Supercup, UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup.

While with Chelsea, he won the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

Vialli was one of nine footballers to have won the three main European club competitions, and the only forward to have done so.

He was also the only player in European footballing history to have both winner’s and runner’s up medals in all three main European club competitions, including two winners medals for the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

The Italian legend is survived by his wife Cathryn White-Cooper, his 87-year-old mother Maria Teresa, his brother Nino and two daughters, Olivia and Sofia.
