McLaughlin’s fate was determined earlier on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, when Republican Gov. Mike Parson declined his mercy appeal.

McLaughlin spoke softly with a spiritual counselor on her side while the deadly dose of pentobarbital was administered.

McLaughlin closed her eyes and took several long breaths. She died a few minutes later.

She was stabbed and raped, and her lifeless body was discovered in the Patch district of south St. Louis, near the Mississippi River.

The Missouri inmate was found guilty of stalking and murdering his ex-girlfriend Beverly Guenther, then dumping her body near the Mississippi River in St. Louis.

In 2006, a judge sentenced McLaughlin to death after a jury deadlocked on the sentencing.

McLaughlin, formerly Scott, was executed 17 years after she was convicted of murdering and stalking her 45-year-old girlfriend Beverly Guenther and dumping her body in the Mississippi River in St. Louis in 2003.
