Hamlin tackled Cincinnati wide receiver Tee Higgins, got to his feet and then crumpled to the ground.
As most of the Bills’ roster came off the sideline to kneel or stand around Hamlin, a stretcher and ambulance arrived.
On the scene, first responders performed CPR on Hamlin and used an automated external defibrillator. As he was loaded into an ambulance, Hamlin was given oxygen.

He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, the region’s only adult level 1 trauma centre, for treatment. Hamlin’s mother was in attendance at the game and rode with him to the hospital.
Several Bills players were seen sobbing as Hamlin was being treated by medical personnel. Other players prayed with their hands or hugged each other.
