Who Was Frank McGarvey?

Frank McGarvey was a Scottish football forward, who played for Celtic, St Mirren, as well as the Scotland national team.

Born in 1956, in Glasgow, Scotland, McGarvey’s career began in 1974 with Colston Y.C.

He later went on to play for the Kilsyth Rangers, St Mirren, Liverpool, Celtic, Queen of the South, Clyde, Shotts Bon Accord, and Troon.

While he was with Colston Y.C. he was top scorer, having a record of 21 goals in one season.

At the time he played for Liverpool and Celtic, McGarvey was Scotland’s most expensive footballer.

He played 245 times for Celtic for five seasons, recording 113 goals, and went on to win two League Championships, two Scottish Cups and a Scottish League Cup.

McGarvey won his third Scottish cup whole he played for St Mirren. At the end of his contract with the team, he had finished with 125 goals.

In 2008, McGarvey released his autobiography titled Totally Frank, which details the victories and challenges he went through as a player.
