Grayson Perry Dress: Why does Grayson dress as a woman?

According to sources, English contemporary artist, Grayson Perry who is very popular in the creative space, has been a cross-dresser since he was a child. He reportedly once shared that it was a way to step into a fantasy world where he felt safer. He also described himself as a transvestite, therefore, cross-dressing makes him happy. However, he shared that he does not want to change his sexuality to become a woman or dress as a full-time woman.

He once shared that the conversation about him being gay came up several times, and people thought he had discussed it with his father because they had seen a movie where the main character acted like him and was gay.

“They’d just found out about me being a tranny, and I think he was watching me watch it, to see if I was gay. In those days if you dressed up in women’s clothes, people thought you were gay. I was a pimply, incredibly nervous, anxious, shy 16-year-old. I’m not going to have an open, confident conversation about my sexuality with my father, whom I don’t really know that well,” he said.
