Former American jurist, Alfred Goodwin has died. He died at the age of 99 on December 27, 2022. The cause of his death is unknown.

At the time of his death, Goodwin was the oldest federal judge still hearing cases and the longest-serving current federal judge.

Goodwin was nominated to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Oregon by President Richard Nixon on September 22, 1969, to a seat vacated by Judge John Kilkenny.
He was confirmed by the United States Senate on December 10, 1969, and received his commission on December 11, 1969. His service terminated on December 17, 1971, due to his elevation to the 9th circuit.
