John Burnett played in the 1950s and 1960s. He played at the representative level of Yorkshire and the club level for Halifax as a centre.

John Burnett played, and was captain, in Halifax’s 15-7 victory over St. Helens in the Championship Final during the 1964-65 season at Station Road, Swinton on Saturday, May 22, 1965.

John Burnett made his debut for Halifax on Saturday, January 16, 1954, and he played his last match for Halifax on Saturday on Saturday, April 1967.

John Burnett is a Halifax RLFC Hall of Fame Inductee.
