Who Is Lisa Fischer?

Lisa Fischer is a singer and songwriter known for her 1991 debut album So Intense, and the hit single “How Can I Ease the Pain”.

Born on December 1, 1958, in New York, Fischer has played the role of back-up singer to famous artists, such as Sting, Luther Vandross, and Tina Turner.

For almost three decades, Fisher toured with The Rolling Stones, and later set out on her solo tour together with her band Grand Baton, across the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

In 2015, Fischer collaborated with pianist JC Maillard, and choreographer Alonzo King to create The Propelled Heart for the Alonzo King LINES Ballet, which premiered at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco the same year.

Fischer has embarked on a number of notable projects such as The Elements of Life; Sing Me Home with Yo-Yo Ma, The Silkroad Ensemble, Gregory Porter; and New York Rhapsody with Lang Lang and Jeffrey Wright.

Fischer and Grand Baton additionally collaborated with The Seattle Symphony for the program Just A Kiss Away.

Fischer has won a number of awards including the Soul Train Music Awards and the Grammy Awards.
